Making money can be tricky. This is especially true for young people right out of school. Here are 5 ways you can make money in Kenya. Regardless of your age or amount of capital available.

 1. Get paid to promote brands.

This is something that I have been doing since the year 2020. Thanks to the WOWZI platform, you can also start earning from your social media platform. As long as you have at least 250 active followers on social media.

You can work with brands like Safaricom to promote their products. The best part is you’ll get paid by WOWZI via your mpesa.

How do you get started on WOWZI?

  1. Download the WOWZI app from the play store.
  2. Log in and set up your profile. – That means connecting your social media platforms, and your payment details as well as choosing some keywords.
  • Start getting jobs once your profile has been approved.

  1. Learn a new skill

There are so many free courses that you can use to learn a new skill. Skills like becoming a virtual assistant, a social media manager, and so on.

There are so many platforms where you can learn any skill. Some of the platforms include ALX, Ajira, and Youtube University.

  1. Become an opera mini news writer.

This is something that I’ve been doing on and off. What do you need to do to become an opera mini news writer?

First, create a writer’s account on opera mini news and get verified. Then start writing. You will receive your earnings via bank account. Apart from your bank account details, you also need a KRA pin.

On top of what you’ll earn from your writing, you’ll also be awarded for writing many quality pieces.

  1. Start an online business.

Would you believe me if I told you that you do not need many online followers to make sales? Well, this is true. The number of followers does not equate to the amount of money you can make in an online business.

How can you start an online business?

  1. Brainstorm some ideas. – Look at what is lacking in your environment, or something that could be improved.
  2. Do a business evaluation. – whether people need your business idea, will it be solving a problem?
  3. Create social media accounts and or pages. – start posting about what problems your business will solve. Also, promote your business.

    . 5. Start a physical business.

This does not have to be a big business. You can start a small business with little capital. Such as starting a mitumba business or a smokie business with less than sh.10,000.

Bonus

: No capital required.

Start running errands for business people. This can be delivering parcels to delivery points, or simply taking packages to customers. You can also pick up parcels for the busy business people.

You can do this by visiting their business premises and handing out business cards with your contact details.

That’s it for this article. What other ways can you make money in Kenya? Let’s share in the comments section.
